Make no mistake, a CAI will not turn your pick-em-up truck into a lambo, but, in 3 races, I was a good 5-8 feet ahead of him by the end. The real test was racing my buddy in his truck. Anyway, installed it, drove it, and noticed a throatier sound right away. Total time took about an hour and a half, and that was only because I took my time. IF YOU ARE NOT MECHANICALLY INCLINED do not worry, this is a really simple swap out and the instructions, despite not being particular good, will get you through just fine, if not, youtube. The install went easily enough, I am fairly mechanical so the instructions were really only a reference anyway. I am fortunate enough to have a friend that has the exact same (aside from color, his is black, mine is blue) pickup truck I do (2012 GMC Sierra SLE Crew Cab, 4.8 4x4 Short bed) Our trucks are equally matched, and from a dead stop to the end of our run (about 1/3 of a mile) we stayed neck and neck for 3 races with no real clear winner. I inspected it and all the parts where present. This CAI arrived 3 days after ordering it and was well packaged. Don't buy this for gas mileage, because it must likely won't make it any better, but it will give you the power you want. ![]() I've had my other one for 4 years and cleaned the filter once. Next on the list is dual exhaust, which will help a little as well. Now, they slip slightly and you can feel the power. Prior to installing, there was no way you could spin the tires on drive payment. Wow! It's like someone just bolted on 30+ HP. After I I stalled it I decided to take it on the road. The clamp is larger than the amount of rubber you are covering it with, so you need to make sure the seal is tight. My biggest complaint is the 45 degree rubber piece you attach to the intake. I followed the instructions, which are ok, and had it installed in less than an hour. I noticed the 2013 has a mess of plastic crap for the air intake. I just bought the Suburban and it felt like it had significantly less power than my 05. First one was on a 2005 GMC Yukon and this one was on a 2013 Chevy Suburban. This is the second Spectre Cold Air Intake I have purchased. Just thought I would share this with everyone. All of them do not help that much on the newer vehicles as a stand alone mod. If you are buying any cai for performance or better mpg then I would save your money. Over all for the money I would say it is as good as the higher priced intakes. I have not driven it enough to see a gain in the mpg. Throttle response seems a little better, but it could me just getting on it a littke more. I can not feel any gains as far as power goes. I get why you need it, but at the 3 inches I tend to believe it is the same air flow as the stock 4 inch tube with baffles. It takes the intake from a 4 inch tube to a 3 inch tube so it does not trip the MAF sensor. The baffle in the inside of the intake is the only thing I did not like. Instructons are great and show step by step photos. Instructions are easy to follow, but watch out for over tighten the clamps. The intake looks great and the fit up was good. Spectre air intakes come with the necessary boots, clamps and hardware for an OE fit and finish. It is a good product but the over all design is why I gave it 4 stars and not five. This air intake comes with a red Spectre reusable low restriction air filter, high quality polished aluminum tubing and a black powder coated heat shield (where applicable) to help prevent engine air from entering the intake inlet. Spectre air intake systems are designed to get more horsepower and torque from your vehicle while working to protect your engine from harmful debris.
